An annual tradition with Cub Scouts all over is the Pinewood Derby. Every December, the cubs receive a kit with a block of wood, four nails and four wheels. From there, imagination takes over and amazing cars are built. The cub can get the basic shape cut during the December Pack Meeting, but after that it’s up to the cub and a parent to work together to build an amazing car.
Then, in January, comes the race itself! Four lanes of wooden cars speeding down the track to the finish line. It’s one of the events they most look forward to over the course of the year.
